BJMC signs jute export deal

Bangladesh on Thursday inked a jute export deal worth of Taka 454 crore with with an Australian company.
To export jute goods, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) and Golden Fiber Australia Private Limited (GFAPL) at the Textile and Jute Ministry conference room here.
BJMC Secretary Mohammad Saleh Uddin signed the agreement on behalf of the BJMC and Managing Partner Sakib Ahmed Khandoker on behalf of the Australian company, said a press release.
Under the agreement, BJMC will export jute goods like sacks, hessian, jute CBC, jute mess and binola, a kind jute sacks, in next two years, said BJMC secretary Mohammad Saleh Uddin.
The agreement will be renewed after every two years, he added.
Ministry and BJMC high officials including Textile and Jute Secretary Shubhashish Bose and BJMC Chairman Dr Mahmudul Hasan, among others, were present on the occasion.
The Australian company GFAPL will act as a strategic partner and provide assistance to the BJMC to expand jute goods markets in Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand and USA.
