BJMC emerged champions of the Walton Air Conditioner National (U-19) Youth Female Handball Tournament when they defeated Panchagarh district team by 25-13 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Tuesday.
BJMC had a 15-5 goals lead in the first half.
Shirina of BJMC scored eight goals and her teammate Sumi netted six goals.
On the other hand, Rubina and Rahima of Panchagarh district team returned four goals each.
BJMC, the champions of the meet were awarded Tk 35,000 while Panchagarh district team, the runners-up of the competition were given Tk 25,000 as prize-money.
Shirina of BJMC was adjudged the Player of the Tournament. She got Tk 5,000 as prize-money and attractive home appliance.
After the final match Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest while Additional Director of Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Sports Ambassador of Walton Jobera Rahman Linu, Chairman of BJMC Major General (Retd) Humayun Khaled were with him as special guests.
President of Bangladesh Handball Federation AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the prize-giving ceremony.
General Secretary of the Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Kazi Abdul Hakim, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Md Nurul Islam were also present at the time.
