BIWTC announces 10-day Eid-ul-Azha spl services

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) will start 10-day special steamer services from September 21 from Dhaka-end on occasion of upcoming Eid Ul Azha festival with seven vessels.
The Eid special service of BIWTC vessels with regular services will continue till September 30, said Azmal Hossain, deputy general manager ( commercial/ passenger) BIWTC Barisal.
BIWTC sources said seven BIWTC vessels including four peddle wheel steamers PS Mahsud, PS Ostrich, PS Lepcha, PS Turn, and three screw wheel motor vessels MV Modhumoti, MV Bangali, MV Shela would be placed to carry passengers to their respective destinations connecting Chandpur, Barisal, Jhalakathi, Hularhut of Pirojpur and Morelganj of Bagerhaat districts under this special schedule, he added.
Barisal and Narayanganj BIWTC stations has been asked to provide special tug boats and piloting services and be prepared to face any emergency calls, BIWTC official told.
Syed Abul Kalam Azad, assistant general manager in charge of BIWTC Barisal station, said MV Shela will ply on Dhaka-Chandpur and Chandpur-Barisal route.
The passenger fare of BIWTC carriers would remain same on special trips as normal trips, BIWTC official said.
Accordingly passengers of BIWTC vessels on 161-kilometer Dhaka-Barisal or Barisal-Dhaka route in a single trip have to pay Tk.1050 for one first class cabin seat, Tk.630 for one second class cabin seat and Tk.170 for each deck seat, BIWTC Barisal station manager added.
Under this schedule the BIWTC peddle steamers PS Turn will ply on September 21 and 26 from Dhaka , 23 from Barisal, and 30 from Hularhut, MV Madhumoti on September 21, 23,28, from Dhaka and 22,27 from Hularhut,30 from Barisal, PS Mahsud on September 22, 25,29 from Dhaka and 24,27 from Barisal, MV Bangali on September 22,24,28,29 from Dhaka, 23 from Hularhut and 26,28,29 from Barisal, PS Ostrich on September 23, 26,30 from Dhaka and 25, 28 from Barisal, PS Lepcha on September 24, 27 from Dhaka, 26 from Hularhut, and 29 from Barisal ends.
