Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to resume its Frankfurt flights, after a gap of seven years, from March 31 as part of its effort to make the national carrier profitable.
Kevin Steele, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Biman, told bdnews24.com on Saturday, “Biman’s new Boeing 777- 300ER aircraft will resume flight operation on the Dhaka-Rome-Frankfurt route on March 31.”
There will be two weekly flights on the route, which remained suspended since 2006 due to financial losses and a serious shortage of aircraft, Steele said.
Later in June, 2009, International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) enlisted Biman Bangladesh Airlines in the list of significant safety concern (SSC) on 34 protocol questions. SSC list is known as a black list in aviation business.
So, Biman’s long-haul aircraft was banned from entering EU airspace for safety deficiencies.
