Biman starts selling tickets for Hajj

Biman Bangladesh airlines on Tuesday started selling of tickets for this year’s hajj flights, scheduled to begin from July 4.
Meanwhile, training programme for pilgrims under government and private management also started across the country and the capital the same day. The 10 days long programme will continue till May 30.
“We have taken all-out preparations to arrange this year’s hajj flights and there will not be any difficulty if hajj agencies collect their tickets in time,”
Shakil Meraj, General Manager (PR) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines told The New Nation on Tuesday.
Some 1,27,198 pilgrims from Bangladesh will perform Hajj this year. National flag carrier Biman will carry 63,599, the half of the total hajj pilgrims. The remaining pilgrims will be carried by Saudi Airlines, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, Shakil added.
According to Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hajj flights are scheduled to begin from July 4. The national flag carrier will operate 157 flights and 32 scheduled flights in 32 days, between July 4 and August 5.
For the first time, Biman will operate 11 hajj flights per day from Dhaka to Madina.
Besides, 10 hajj flights will be operated on the Chattogram-Jeddah route, three flights on the Sylhet-Jeddah and seven dedicated flights on the Chattogram-Madina route. There will be 126 flights on the Dhaka-Jeddah route for the first time.
Return flight will start from August 17 to end on September 14.
Biman will penalise the pilgrims in case of cancellation of travel. Each pilgrim will have to pay US$ 350 as the penalty for cancellation of travel.
A pilgrim will be charged US$200 to $300 if he or she wants to change the date of travel.
The Saudi Arabian Airline also started selling tickets for hajj flights from last day (Tuesday.).
Saudi Arabia will not provide any extra slot this year. The immigration of the pilgrims will be done in Dhaka for the first time. As a result, passengers will feel comfort in Saudi Arab.
Per day 500 pilgrims will participate in four venues of Ashkona Hajj camp and other 500 pilgrims will take training at Baitul Mokarram Mosque respectively. Besides, the Islamic Foundation will also arrange same training in 64 districts.
“Training is most important for performing Hajj properly. Because having knowledge about Hajj, a pilgrim can do his all functions of Hajj perfectly” M Shahadat Hossain Taslim, newly elected president of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) told regarding the training.
