A man was arrested with 30 gold bars, weighing at around 3.45 kg, worth around Taka 1.75 crore, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Liakat Ali, a Biman
Bangladesh Airlines aircraft mechanic. Airport sources said the culprit hide the seized gold bars in his shoes after he landed in an Emirates Airlines flight, during which he hide them under a seat. Being tipped off, customs intelligence challenged Liakat and seized 30 gold bars from 3 packets searching his body, sources said. A case will be filed in this connection.
