Biman adds new Airbus to its fleet

The loss making Biman Bangladesh Airlines added an Airbus A-330 aircraft to its fleet on Thursday with a view to increase on-time performance as well as giving a boost in its ailing business, said a Biman press release.
The aircraft that was taken from Wamos of Spain under lease agreement made its first flight yesterday (Thursday) with the logo of Bangladesh national carrier.
Biman operated the BG-125 flight on Dhaka-Doha-Dhaka rout with this new aircraft that raised the national flag carrier’s fleet number to 13.
The A-330 aircraft with 327 seated, 20 seats for business class and 307 for economy class will be operated for Biman’ middle eastern routes specially to Doha and Kuwait City.
Presently Biman fleet comprised with its own 4 Boeing 777-300ER, 2 Boeing 737-800 and under leased 2 Boeing 777-200ER, 2 Boeing 737-800, 2 Dash 8Q400 and one Airbus A-330.
Presently the national flag carrier is operating flights to 15 international destinations and 7 domestic routes. Biman carried 23.18 lakh passengers during 2015-16 fiscal year.
