Top-order batter Anamul Haque Bijoy has been added to the Bangladesh Test side and replaced Yasir Ali who has been ruled out of the Test series against the West Indies due to a back injury.
The 29-year-old Anamul, who last played a Test for Bangladesh in 2014, joined the Tigers’ camp and might feature in the second Test at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
Bangladesh Test expert batters Mominul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto are going through a continuous off-form. If one of these two is left out of the XI, then the window will open for Bijoy.
Bijoy is looking for that opportunity and if got selected he will try his level best for the team.
“I joined the team yesterday. It feels good to be with the Test team after so many days. There are four or five more days ahead for the second Test. I will try to practice well and play the second match. If the opportunity arises, I will definitely try to play well. I’m feeling very good.” Bijoy said in a BCB’s video massage.
In the last session of the Dhaka Premier League he became the first Bangladeshi batter to score 1000 runs in a single season since it got the List A status in 2013.
