Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt) Ltd (BIFPCL) and NTPC of India signed a contract agreement with PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited, India (PWC) for “Long term coal sourcing, maritime transportation, transshipment, inland water transport and logistics” on Monday.
The meeting was presided over by Power Secretary Monowar Islam. State minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid, BPDB chairman, MD of NWPDCL and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
The coal supply agreement is an important milestone for BIFPCL for development of the 2×660 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Project at Rampal based on imported coal and supercritical technology.
PWC, a globally reputed consultant, will provide the most optimum solution to BIFPCL for sourcing of coal and its transportation for generation of power with high availability and in an environment friendly manner.
The state minister in his address stressed the need for commission the power project by December 2018.
He also said that the power project will be an environment friendly model power project.
BIFPCL managing director V.S. Tamrakar and Yogesh Daruka, Director of PWC, signed the contract on behalf of their respective organizations.
