Bid to select single candidate for each seat

AL to finalise candidates' list tomorrow, BNP on Wednesday

The Parliamentary Selection Boards of both Awami League and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are trying their level best to nominate a single candidate for each seat in the upcoming 11th National election.
Both BNP and AL have also decided to take action against those candidates who will not abide by the party decision and try to contest as rebel candidate.
The AL may announce the final list of the nomination aspirants tomorrow (Monday) while BNP on Wednesday.
AL Parliamentary Selection Board Member Kazi Zafarullah told The New Nation on Friday that more than one candidates have submitted their nomination from the sme seat. We are however working to select single candidate and trying to convince the others.
 “A good number of nomination aspirants are young. We told them to be patient and wait for next chance.
“We have rejected the application of incumbent upazila chairmen and pourashova mayors.
Earlier, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said those who would contest the next polls as rebel candidates would be instantly axed.
The AL general secretary had also called upon the party men not to build rooms within rooms. “Don’t create anarchy in the party. Stringent action will be taken against troublemakers ahead of the polls over the nomination issue. Remain united and work for the victory of the party symbol Nouka,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BNP nomination board gave strong messages to its nomination seekers to stay united and refrain from intra-party conflicts and violence, as the party wants to return to power through a credible and peaceful general election.
The nomination board also asked the party workers to work for the candidates of their alliance partners with the same spirit.
