Bid to get work permit despite allegations against Sony Int’l BD head

A vested quarter has been trying to appoint Yee Wai Seong, a Malaysian national as head of Bangladesh branch office of Sony International (Singapore) Ltd despite having massive allegations against him and one more lawenfocing agencies are investigating into the matter on the basis of complains filed in the office of the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Ministry of Home Affairs recently.
Sources said, Yee Wai Seong applied for work permit at BIDA on December 19,2017 and the matter was sent to the Security Services Division of Ministry of Home Affairs on December 21, 2017 vide its memo No 03.219.343.01.00.177.2014-1129 for security clearance and investigation into the allegations submitted against him but a section of influential has been trying to divert the investigation in favour of them, it is widely alleged.
BIDA sources said, the allegations include working without work permit in Bangladesh, involvement in militancy activities and Rohingya solidarity activities, misbehavior with employees, nepotism, suspicious movement, submission of fake documents.
Besides, Yee Wai Seong gave false and fabricated information to Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka and Singapore to get visa.
Sources said, without proper investigation, work permit should not be issued as he is a controversial person and for the security reason his proceedings of work permit must be cancelled . He was not available for comments.
