Bhutanese minister wants more collaboration with BRRI

Minister for Agriculture and Forests of the Royal Government of Bhutan Mr Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji wants more collaboration with Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) to make his country surplus in rice production. The Minister expressed this interest on Wednesday morning while he was visiting BRRI in Gazipur.
BRRI Director General Dr Jiban Krishna Biswas extended a cordial welcome to the visiting Minister and his accompanies at the institute and briefed about the institute’s contributions over the years in making Bangladesh a food surplus country . He also discussed ways and means to strengthen collaboration between BRRI and Bhutan in an opinion exchange meeting held on the occasion.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md Fazle Wahed Khandaker, BRRI Director (Admin and Common Service) Dr Md Shahjahan Kabir, BRRI Director (Research) Dr Ansar Ali, Coordinator for Advanced Studies and Research Dr Md Abu Saleque, Heads of the research divisions of the institute, the senior scientists and officials along with representatives of SAARC Agriculture centre attended the meeting.
