A Dhaka court yesterday placed the main accused in a rape case on a four-day remand. The case was filed over raping an adolescent girl in Bhatara area in the capital.
Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akhtar of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing on Sunday. Earlier, Bhatara Police Station Inspector (Operation) Golam Faruk produced the accused Md Russel alias Babu in the court seeking 10 days remand.
On Saturday evening, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 arrested the suspect from Homna of Cumilla district.
On January 9, the 12-year-old girl was gang raped at Bhatara. She was taken to One Stop Crisis Center of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, victim’s father filed a rape case with Bhatara Police Station against Russel and four other un-identified persons.
