At least 30 people, including three Sub-Inspectors (SIs) of Police, were injured in a massive clash between cops personnel and locals following the eviction drive of trucks and human haulers from the road side near Seed-Store Bazar at Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh district on Monday evening.
Several thousands local mob blocked the Dhaka-Menmensingh Highway for more than five hours and staged demonstration protesting the eviction without any notice, reports our Mymensingh and Bhaluka Correspondents quoting Md Mainuddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of local police station.
The mob also set fire on some motorcycles and vandalized around one hundred vehicles during the clash which began around 6:40pm, witnesses said.
Hundreds of vehicles, including ambulances and emergency services transports, were found stranded on the busy highways till filing the report around 10:00pm, they said. The locals also besieged the members of police (Industrial Police-5 and district police) as they fired the people allegedly instigate the locals, they said.
The injured men, including three SIs, rushed to locals hospital for treatment, according to them.
The district police Super Shah Abid Hasan and local representatives rushed the spot and tried to take the control of the situation.
