It also urged the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to simplify export-import audit activities, an interim arrangement to continue existing services for international trade and to expand bonded warehouse facility for the RMG industry.
A delegation of BGMEA led by its Senior Vice-President S M Mannan Kochi made the request during a meeting with Kazi Mustafizur Rahman,
Commissioner of the Dhaka Customs Bond Comissionarate, at the latter’s office on Tuesday.
The other members of the BGMEA delegation are Vice-President Md Shahidullah Azim, Director Asif Ashraf, former Director Munir Hossain, Mitali Group’s Chairman Syed Abu Yousuf Abdullah and Sparrow Apparels Managing Director Shovon Islam (Shawn).

The BGMEA leaders said the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented crisis in the RMG industry and it was still struggling to recover from the massive impacts.
The support and cooperation of the Customs Bond Commissionerate would help the RMG industry to address the current challenges and turn around, they added.
The delegation also called for removal of complexity in the process of including description of raw materials and other related materials with their HS code in bond licences.
