BGMEA to pay Tuba workers, says Minister

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said BGMEA will pay unpaid wage for May and June of Tuba Group workers on August 6. Besides, the wage for July will be paid on August 10.
The minister made this after holding meeting with the sides of owners and workers of the Tuba Group at BGMEA Bhaban on Sunday afternoon.
He said, “We have held a meeting with owners and labourers and come up with this decision”.
As per the decision, the BGMEA will begin to pay wage from 10:00 am on Wednesday. “But we could not come any decision on bonus payment”, he said.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and the StateMinster for Labour and Employment Ministry were, among others, present at the meeting.
Earlier, on the day, President of Garments Workers Unity Forum Moshrefa Mishu announced different programmes, including ‘rally’ and ‘besiege’ at the Hossain Super Market to realise their unpaid wage and bonus of Tuba Group workers. Minster for Labour and Employment Ministry were, among others, present at the meeting.
