BGB seizes 20 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh men led by Habilder Mamunur Rashid of Raghunathpur camp, 49 Border Guard Battalion, seized 20 gold bars weighing 2 kilograms worth Tk 77,16,000, in a raid at Sadipur frontier under Benapole port police station on Wednesday morning.
Major Md Nazrul Islam, acting commander, 49 Border Guard Battalion told Newsmen that tipped off the battalion men seized the gold bars wrapped in a polythene bag in an abandoned state after two smugglers were chased at around 7:20am on Wednesday.
The gold bars were smuggled to India, he added. The gold bars were deposited to Benapole port station police after filing a case.
