Independence Day Handball: BGB emerge Men`s champions

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) clinched the Independence Day Men’s Handball title beating Bangladesh Police by 34-18 goals in the final at Shaheed (captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Wednesday.The winners led the first half by 17-8 goalsKamrul Islam scored six goals while Kamruzzaman and Abdus Sattar netted five goals each for the winners. Later, Kamrul Islam was adjudged the best player of the tournament.Arif Hossain netted five while Moniruzzaman and Kader scored three goals each for the losers.In the women’s group, Bangladesh Ansar clinched the title beating Bangladesh Police by 22-10 goals after leading the first half by 11-2 goals in the day’s final at the same venue. Roksana scored nine and Happy four goals for the winners while Zarina netted three goals for the losers. Ismat Ara Nishi of Ansar was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Vice President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) and Chairman of Mousumi Industries Ltd (Cute) Kazi Mahtabuddin Ahmed was the chief guest in the day’s final and later he distributed the prizes. BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor was also present on the occasion.
