Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) to conduct an opinion survey on power supply to households.
Chairman of BEPRC Dr Kaikaus and director general of BBS M Abdul Wazed signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides on Sunday.
Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram witnessed the MoU signing ceremony as the chief guest, while Power Secretary Monowar Islam was the special guest.
“This would be the first ever survey in the world by using cell phones, which would be conducted by the government to find opinion of the power users and the survey would reveal real picture of power supply to households across the country,” Dr Chowdhury said.
He said and the survey would be completed within only 10 days, adding, “The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would build a knowledge based society to materialize digital Bangladesh.”
The government has a target to supply reliable, quality and affordable power to households alongside industries across the country, the adviser said.
