Bengali New Year celebrated in Rangpur amid festivities

The first Baishakh, a universal festival of Bengalis, has been celebrated in Rangpur with colorful arrangements. The New Year begins on Thursday with a colorful procession welcoming the Bengali New Year and cultural performances. Bengali New Year has been celebrated in BRU and colorful arrangements.
 At 10 am, a colorful procession was taken out from the town hall premises on the initiative of Rangpur district administration highlighting the rural heritage. The procession was attended by children, teenagers, youths and people of different ages. Wearing outer garments, dancing, singing and hooliganism created a different mood. Students of different educational institutions, teachers, political personalities and people of all professions took part in it. The procession went around different roads of the city and ended at the district school ground.
Later, Divisional Commissioner Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya, Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate Chafia Khanam, District Superintendent of Police Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Additional Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Mehed addressed the people of Rangpur at the beginning of the program. President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed. Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan presided over the discussion session. A three-day Lokaj and BSIC fair was inaugurated at the district school ground around Pohela Boishakh.
Bengali New Year 1429 has been celebrated at Begum Rokeya University (BRU) Rangpur through colorful arrangements. On this occasion, a colorful Mars procession was taken out from the mural premises of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 9:30 am. ‘Come, O Boishakh, come, come ….’ The procession, accompanied by songs and musical instruments, went around the main roads of the campus and ended at the same place. Various traditions of Bengali and Bengali were displayed in the procession with the participation of teachers, staff, staff and students.
At the end of the procession, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. spoke in front of the mural of Bangabandhu. Sarifa Salwa Dina, President of Teachers Association Md. Shariful Islam, University Registrar Engineer Mohammad Alamgir Chowdhury, General Secretary of Teachers Association Syed Anwarul Azim, Associate Professor of Accounting and Information Systems Department Apel Mahmud and General Secretary of Officers Association and Pahela Boishakh Mohammad Ali are members of the celebration committee. Dean of the Faculty of Arts and the convener of the first Baishakh celebration committee Professor Dr. gave a concluding speech in the performance of Associate Professor Umar Farooq, Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman (Tuhin Wadud) among others.
