February 15 is the Benapole Tragedy Day. Every year, the people of the region observed the day as Benapole Tragedy Day.
Mourning rally, Milad Mahfil and Dua Mahfil were arranged at Benapole Government Primary School grounds in the morning to commemorate the day. The programmes have been guided by the leadership of Sheik Afiluddin MP .
None children students of Benapole Government Primary School were killed in a tragic picnic bus accident on this day in 2014 . On the return home from the picnic, more than half of the students, teachers and parents were injured in the accident at Jhautala Bazar on Chougachha-Maheshpur road in Jashore district.
On this day, the students of Benapole Government Primary School in Sharsha Upazila went to Mujibnagar in Meherpur for an educational tour. On the way back from the bus, the bus fell into a pond along the road at Jhautala Bazar of Chougachha Upazila. Nine children were killed on the spot. Four children, were injured. Two more students died after being treated.
To commemorate this day, black flags, Rally , Milad Mahfil and prayers were held at various organizations and educational institutions at Benapole Government Primary School.
