UNB, Benapole :
Revenue income at Benapole land port has exceeded the target for the first time in the outgoing fiscal 2014-15, said sources.
Customs authorities of the port collected Tk2,558.29 crore revenue during the period, which is Tk85.61 crore more than the target set for the time and Tk119.84 crore more than that of the previous financial year.
Benapole customs sources said the port authorities increased the prices of the imported goods for collecting huge taxes and imposed a strict rule for examining products.
Besides, import through the land port decreased due to strict monitoring for checking tax evasion and high tariff. Customs commissioner of Benapole Port AFM Abdullah Khan said the port has been operating its activities with transparency which helps cross the expectation level in tariff collection.
