Belgium is keen on further enhancing trade and business relations with Bangladesh aimed at widening the existing economic ties between the two countries to the mutual benefit of both the people.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Belgium Didier Reynders expressed this intent when Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq and State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam met him at the Egmont Palace (Ministry of Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs) on May 10 in Brussels.
During the meeting, Anisul Huq expressed gratitude for the valuable support by the people and Government of Belgium during the Liberation War in 1971. He urged the Belgian Foreign Minister to reopen its resident mission in Dhaka soon so that the two countries can further broaden their economic activities. Belgium closed its embassy in Bangladesh 1990.
