Beef, chicken, fish price till high

The price of beef, chicken and fishes and vegetables remained stable in the city’s kitchen markets on Friday ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Traders said that the rising demand may increase the prices of beef, chicken and red meat this week.
Except green chilli, tomato and cucumber, the demand for most of the vegetables usually decreases during the Eid, they said.
According to the traders, the prices of green chilli, tomato and cucumber almost doubled in the city markets due to high demand but the prices of other, vegetables remained stable.
The price of beef increased by Tk 20-30 per kg over the week and was selling on Fridat at Tk 500-Tk 540 per kg in the city’s markets.
In some areas of the city, it was selling at Tk 550 per kg on the day.
Red meat was selling at Tk 750-Tk 850 per kg.
The price of broiler increased by Tk 10 per kg and was selling at Tk 155-170 per kg in the kitchen markets.
Price of locally bred hens increased by Tk 50 per kg and was selling at Tk 400-450 per kg on Friday.
However, visiting different markets the reporter observed that green chilli was selling at Tk 60 to 70 per kg, brinjal at Tk 50 to 60, potato at Tk 25, okra at Tk 40 to 45, parble at Tk 50, arum at Tk 60, snake gourd at Tk 50 to 55 french beans at Tk 50 to 60, balsam apple at Tk 60, teasel gourd at Tk 60, carrot at Tk 80 to 120, bitter gourd at Tk 60, cucumber at Tk 45 to 50, green papaya at Tk 45 to 50, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 70 to 90 per piece, bottle gourd at Tk 50 to 60, ash gourd at Tk 35 to 40 per piece, cauliflower at Tk 40 to 50,
coriander leaves at Tk 300 per kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 450 per kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 350.
Of fishes, butter fish was selling at Tk 400 to 550, lobster at Tk 550 to 600, shrimp (River) at Tk 500 to 600, puti at Tk 300 to 400 per kg, cultivated koi at Tk 180 to 250 per kg, Fali Chanda (Rupchanda) at Tk 100 to 1100 per kg, eel at Tk 600 to 800 per kg, batashi at Tk 400 to 500, Aire fish at Tk 500 to 700, baila at Tk 650 to 700 per kg, coral fish at Tk 450 to 600 per kg, river Pangas at Tk 350 per kg, cultivated pangas at Tk 140 per kg, rajputi at Tk 400 per kg and telapia at Tk 200 to Tk 250 per kg.
Of rices, superior quality of Nazirshail was selling at Tk 65 to 70 per kg, Minicete at Tk 62 to 68 per kg, medium quality of Bridhan-28 and Lata rice at Tk 55-58 per kg. Different kinds of coarse rice like Swarna were selling at Tk 55 and similarly the hybrid quality at Tk 50 to Tk 56 to 58 per kg.
Date was selling at Tk 250 to 1100 per kg in the city based on quality, Apple at Tk 170 to 180, Multa at Tk 150, Naspati at Tk 180, Guava at Tk 140 to 160 and mango at Tk 70 to 110 only.
A one litre container of soya bean oil was selling at Tk 105-108, while a five-litre container at Tk 505-525 only.
Unpacked soya bean oil was selling at Tk 98 a kg, while palm oil at Tk 85 a kg. Fine quality of packet salt was selling at Tk 40 a kg, while the refined one at Tk 28 a kg.
The price of red lentil remained unchanged over the week. The local variety of red lentil was selling at Tk 95-100 per kg, while the coarse variety of imported red lentil was selling at Tk 90-100 per kg over the week.
The local variety of onion was selling between Tk 40 to 45 per kg and imported Indian variety at Tk 35 to 40. The garlic was selling at Tk 90 to 120 per kg and ginger at Tk 100 to 120 per kg.
