The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is working with the government across the country, including the capital, to implement vaccination campaign as part of the battle against the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. About 15,000 trained volunteers of the Red Crescent Society are directly participating in this campaign.
The volunteers participating in the Covid-19 vaccination programme have been trained in accordance with the government-provided volunteer guidelines in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). An official letter to this end has been sent from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to all concerned including Civil Surgeons at the districts and the chief health officers of the city corporations to include the volunteers of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in the immunization programme. According to the Red Crescent Society, these Red Crescent-trained volunteers will assist the local administration to implementing at the grassroots activities in all districts, upazilas of the country, including the capital, to make the government’s Covid-19 vaccination programme a success.
In the first phase, 150 volunteers of the Red Crescent Society have started working in collaboration with the Covid-19 vaccination programme which has been started in different hospitals in the capital.
