B’desh Open Int’l Badminton kicks off tomorrow

The Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Open International Badminton Challenge 2015, organized by Bangladesh Badminton Federation under the supervision of Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asia Confederation, begins tomorrow (Tuesday) at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium here.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit will inaugurate the five-day tournament tomorrow morning. Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy will be the special guest on the occasion.
A total of 133 shatters from 12 countries-USA, Russia, Ukraine, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh -will compete in five events-men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF) Jobaidur Rahman Rana disclosed these at a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association on Sunday.
BBF President Abdul Malek and representatives of Yonex were also present on the occasion.
A budget of Tk 65 lakh has been earmarked for the tournament.
Yonex-Sunrise will sponsor the five-day tournament for the 3rd time. Besides, Beximco Pharma, Computer Source and Islami Bank Limited named co-sponsors while Pepsi and Aquafina named as drink partners and Bangladesh Cricket Board named as event partner, ATN Bangla as media partner and Robi as telecom Partner of the meet.
