Bangladesh outclassed West Indies by innings and 184 runs on the third day of the second and final Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday and thereby won the series 2-0.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh piled up a mammoth total of 508 in the first innings on the second day (Saturday).
In return, West Indies scored only 111 runs in their first innings on the third day and were forced to follow-on. Later, West Indies were bundled out for 213 in the second innings on the same day and suffered a huge defeat.
West Indies resumed their first innings with the overnight score of 75 for the loss of five wickets.
Shirmon Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich resumed their first innings with the overnight score of 32 and 17 runs respectively.
But, Hetmyer could able to add more seven runs as he was caught & bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when West Indies score was 86 for the loss of six wickets.
Then the visitors failed to make any notable partnership against the superb spin attack of Bangladesh.
Miraz bowled extremely well and completed his devastating spell as 16-1-58-7.
After conceding follow-on, West Indies faced an early debacle as they lost their four wickets for 29 runs.
Hetmyer and Kemar Roach fought back against the terrific bowling attack of Bangladesh.
Hetmyer notched up a gritty 93 from 92 balls. He hit nine sixes and one four before he was dismissed by Miraz.
Roach remained unbeaten with 37. He hit seven fours in his 49-ball knock.
Miraz struck in the second innings also and finished his tremendous bowling spell as 20-2-59-5.
Taijul Islam grabbed three wickets at the cost of 40 runs.
Besides, Nayeem Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket each for 34 and 65 runs respectively.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was adjudged the Man of the Match for his altogether 12-wicket haul instead of 117 runs.
Shakib Al Hasan was adjudged the Player of the Series for his consistent all-round performance.
