Ambassador of Republic of Turkey in Dhaka Devrim Ozturk called on President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Abul Kasem Khan and had a meeting at DCCI on Monday. Commercial Counsellor of Turkish Embassy, Dhaka Murat Yarat, members of the DCCI Board were also present during the meeting.
DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan said that Bangladesh is a potential market for Turkey especially for investment in infrastructure, power and energy, textile, tourism, medical, transportation etc. He also said that Bangladesh needs large investment in infrastructure sector to attain double digit GDP growth. At present 2.7 percent of our GDP is being invested in our infrastructure sector, but we need to accelerate it to 5-6 per cent, he said. He informed the Ambassador that DCCI has sent a trade delegation in Turkey this month to attend “Turkey’s Export Week and Buyers’ Mission”. The DCCI President also said that more B2B match making, an FTA between Bangladesh and Turkey and exchange of trade delegation, developing know-how, technology transfer, information sharing etc. will help accelerate bilateral trade. He invited Turkish entrepreneurs to invest more in Bangladesh with their own technology.
