Bangladesh will play Ireland in the trophy final of the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier at Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok today (Saturday).
The match will begin at 9 am (Bangladesh time).
On the eve of the match, Bangladesh captain Jahanara Alam said, “We’ re very happy as we’ve qualified for the Women’s World T20 for the first time. Last time we played the world cup as the host nation.
This time we needed to qualify.”
Ireland captain Isobel Joyce said her team would like to pit its wits against a strong Bangladesh side away from home.
Both Bangladesh and Ireland booked their spot to the ICC Women’s World T20 to be held in India in 016.
The Trophy finalists-Bangladesh and Ireland-will join reigning champions Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies in the final round of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 to be held in India from March 11 to April 3 next year.
Bangladesh reached the Trophy final with all-win record eliminating Zimbabwe by 31 runs in the first semifinal while Ireland confirmed their berth crushing Scotland by nine wickets in the 2nd semifinal, both at Terdthai Cricket Ground.
Bangladesh defeated hosts Thailand by 73 runs, beat Scotland by eight wickets and crushed Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 41 runs in group matches.
