BD to achieve self-reliance on electricity soon

Bangladesh has already achieved laudable success in generating power on its way to achieve complete self- reliance on electricity very soon following the effective steps taken by the government in recent years.
Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Nazmul Hoque Prodhan said this while switching on newly built power supply lines ceremonially at Dolopara Government Primary School under Sadar upazila in Panchagarh on Thursday night as chief guest.
A total of 157 residential houses in villages Bhandarugram and Dolopara under Chaklahat union in Panchagarh Sadar upazila have been switched with electricity supply facilities fulfilling long-cherished demand of the villagers.
Thakurgaon Polli Bidyut Samity of the Rural Electrification Board has (REB) implemented construction works of the six-kilometer long power supply lines at about Taka 22 lakh to bring the villages under power supply networks.
Panchagarh Regional Deputy General Manager of REB Mohammad Yunus, Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat, district JSD President Abdul Mazid babul, local Union Chairman Abu Daud Prodhan, President of Sadar upazila Awami League Amirul Islam, its Chaklahat union unit President Abdul Kuddus, General Secretary AHM Farhad, former Chhatra League leader Anisuzzaman and Headmaster of the school Rafikul Islam Tauhidul Islam also addressed.
Chairman of Electricity Management Committee for villages Bhandarugram and Dolopara Anarul Islam presided over the occasion participated by REB officials, common people, public representatives, civil society members and local elite.
Congratulating the villagers, the chief guest directed the concerned REB officials and authorities to ensure excellent management in power supply systems to make best use of electricity reducing system loss to the minimum.
