Bangladesh on Tuesday denounced the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque, banning of Friday prayer there and imposition of other restrictions around Al Haram Al Sharif by the Israeli authorities.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali criticised the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and conveyed Bangladesh’s stance on this issue, said the Foreign Ministry yesterday.
He expressed deep condolences and sympathies to the victims.
The Minister also called upon the international
community to revive the Middle East peace process at the earliest and work towards a two-state solution.
In the message, Mahmood Ali reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to realising inalienable rights of the brotherly people of Palestine for an independent homeland.
Israel made the move on July 14 following a gun battle in the mosque compound that left three Palestinians and two Israeli police officer dead.
This was the first time Muslims could not hold the Friday prayer in the mosque, revered by both Muslims and Jews, in the last 50 years.
