Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations observed the historic Mujibnagar Day in a befitting manner on April 17.
It organised a discussion meeting at the Bangabandhu Auditorium of its office where officers and employees of the mission were present, a press release from the press wing of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations said.
Permanent representative of Bangladesh to the UN Dr AK Abdul Momen taking part in the discussion said the historic April 17 is the evidence of political maturity of the then Awami League leaders. “The first legal government was formed on this day by the elected public representatives through taking oath. With this, the government was able to conduct the Liberation War as per the directives of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said. The permanent representative also said under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, the Awami League leaders fixed their target to build the ‘Sonar Bangla’ (Golden Bengal) where Bangladesh would be a non-communal, prosperous and peaceful country. He also put emphasis on working sincerely and performing respective duties from everyone’s side to attain that goal.
