BD needs stability to maintain economic pace: Swedish envoy

Swedish Ambassador in Dhaka Johan Frisell on Sunday said Bangladesh needs ‘stability’ to continue the tremendous pace in the country’s economy achieved through people’s hard works.
The Swedish diplomat also hoped that the ongoing destructive political activities will be over soon, according to a Foreign Ministry media release.
Johan Frisell made the remark when he met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at the latter’s office.
He highly appreciated the achievements Bangladesh has made in the areas of women empowerment, primary
education, health and overall socioeconomic development.
The envoy said his country and business organizations are very much interested in expanding relations with Bangladesh.
He mentioned that Bangladesh needs huge skilled manpower to carry out its massive development activities and Sweden wants to extend support to Bangladesh for skill development.
The diplomat appreciated Bangladesh’s achievement in checking birth rate and assured of continuing his country’s support to Bangladesh’s health sector.
He mentioned that both the countries can work together in the areas of climate change, water purification and waste management.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador and his country for their continuous support towards Bangladesh over the last 44 years.
He assured the Ambassador of all-out support during his diplomatic assignment in Dhaka.
