BD natl`l shot dead by BSF

UNB, Benapole :A Bangladeshi national was shot to death allegedly by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Putkhali bordering area of Benapole early Saturday.The deceased identified as Shahid Ali alias Foni,30, son of Sadek Ali, a resident of the area, was a cattle trader by profession. Lieutenant Colonel Arifur Rahman, Commanding Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-23, said a BSF team from Angrail camp opened fire at a group of cattle traders while they were entering Bangladesh from India with cattle in the area at around 4:30amleaving Shahid dead on the spot.Other associates of Shahid managed to flee, he added. BSF members dumped the body into the Ichhamoti River. Later, police recovered the body from the river on Saturday morning. BGB has sent a letter to BSF, protesting the incident.
