A Bangladesh national is among five arrested in Malaysia for suspected links with militant groups like Islamic State (IS) and al-Qaeda, reports Reuters.
Police have said those arrested also include a European employed as a teacher.
The country went for heightened security after reports that ten Syrians linked to the IS had entered Thailand in October to attack Russian interests.
The arrests were made between Nov 17 and Dec 1, Reuters quoted a statement by Malaysia police chief Khalid Abu Bakar.
The Bangladeshi national was part of a cell linked to the IS and was tasked with recruiting volunteers to take part in militant activities overseas, according to the Reuters report.
