A Bangladeshi national is among the 400 offenders the US government has deported in the last year following INTERPOL notices, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE confirmed to bdnews24.com.
Between Sept 30, 2016 and July this year, the US deported 128 Bangladeshis. Most were accused of violating immigration laws.
Most were brought into the US through Mexico by people smugglers, said ICE.
The US government began the deportation drive against offenders in September last year,
following a notice served by the International Police Organization or INTERPOL.
According to ICE, a total 1700 immigrants have been deported from the US since former president Barack Obama took office in 2009.
The US would continue with drive to ensure the security of its citizens, said Matthew T Albence, executive associate director (Enforcement and Removal Operations) of ICE.
