Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is moving forward in irresistible way keeping pace with tremendous progress around the world.
This was stated by the Information Secretary Abdul Malek while addressing as the chief guest a programme titled ‘Shoto Konthe Egiye Jaoyar Gaan’ jointly arranged by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Centre of the UK and ATN Bangla at a auditorium in East London.
Malek said Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world .
Bangladesh sets a unique example in the world for economic growth, women empowerment, poverty alleviation, education and food production, he added.
Malek said, at present Bangladesh is much stronger as regards communal and cultural harmony for Sheikh Hasina’s effective policies and measures, said a press release here on Tuesday.
Information Secretary said Bangladesh earned the repute of humanitarian gesture by providing shelter to over 11 lakh Rohingya refugees and ensuring their basic needs.
He continued: Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
Prime minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi and Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem also spoke on the occasion.
Politicians Stephen Timms and Rushanara Ali and Mayor of London Borough of Croydon Humayun Kabir were present at the function.
Earlier, the information secretary addressed as the guest of honor the Bangladesh Book Fair-2019 at East London’s Bethnal Green Library and visited the Bangabandhu Corner of Bangladesh High Commission.
Dr Gowher Rizvi was the chief guest at the book fair organized by the UK Cultural Alliance while member secretary of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary National Committee Dr Kamal Naser Chowdhury, inaugurated the book fair.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem addressed as guest of honor at the fair.
