UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the deaths of dozens of devotees in the twin gun attacks at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
A special prayer was offered seeking divine blessings for those who lost their lives in the mass shootings during Juma prayer at mosques.
At least two Bangladeshis are among the multiple fatalities.
Early recovery of the injured was also sought during the special prayers held after Juma prayer at the mission’s mosque on Friday, said the High Commission.
The mission expressed great relief that the members of Bangladesh national cricket team narrowly escaped the mayhem.
The cricketers, preparing to play the now-cancelled third test match against New Zealand, were about to enter one of the attacked mosques for offering Juma prayers, but left the area after learning about the shootings.
