SA have 230-run lead: BD make 320 in 1st innings

Bangladesh made 320 in the 1st innings against South Africa on the third day of the 1st Test at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa’s on Saturday.
Earlier, South Africa declared their first innings scoring 496 for the loss of three wickets on the second day (Friday).
Later, South Africa were at 54 for the loss of two wickets at the stumps.
South Africa have now 230-run lead remaining with eight wickets.
The African side had a modest start as opener Dean Elgar (18) was trapped leg before wicket by Shafiul Islam when the hosts’ score was 30 for the loss of one wicket.
Then Aiden Markram, the other opener (15) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das
off Mustafizur Rahman when South Africa’s total was 38 for the loss of two wickets.
Hashim Amla and Temba Bavuma remained unbeaten with 17 and three runs respectively.
Mustafizur Rahman and Shafiul Islam took one wicket each for seven and 18 runs respectively.
Bangladesh resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 127 for the loss of three wickets.
Mominul Haque and Tamim Iqbal resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 28 and 22 runs respectively.
But, Mominul and Tamim could add more 31 runs on the third day as Tamim was caught behind by wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock off Andile Phehlukwayo when Bangladesh’s score was 158 for the loss of four wickets.
Tamim hit 39 from 67 balls featuring six fours and a sixer.
After Tamim’s dismissal, Mominul Haque and Mahmudullah Riyad fought back contributing together 69 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Mominul was caught at the forward short leg by Aiden Markram off Keshav Maharaj when the tourists’ total was 227 for the loss of five wickets.
Mominul Haque top-scored with 77. His 150-ball innings was decorated with 12 fours. It was Mominul’s 12th Test half-century.
After departure of Mominul, Mahmudullah and Sabbir Rahman built another notable partnership. They put on together 65 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Sabbir Rahman was bowled out by Duanne Olivier when the visitors’ score was 292 for the loss of six wickets.
Sabbir scored 30 from 46 balls including four fours and a sixer.
Then Mahmudullah could stay at the crease for a short period as he was bowled out by Morne Morkel when Bangladesh’s total was 304 for the loss of seven wickets.
Mahmudullah knocked a patient 66. He hit 11 fours and a six in his 124-ball innings.
It was Riyad’s 14th Test half-century.
Number nine batsman Taskin Ahmed (1) was run out by Aiden Markram when Bangladesh’s score was 305 for the loss of eight wickets.
Then Mehidy Hasan Miraz (8) was caught at the gully by Dean Elgar off Kagiso Rabada when the touring side’s total was 308 for the loss of nine wickets.
Later, Shafiul Islam (2) was caught at the first slip by Hashim Amla off Keshav Maharaj and Bangladesh’s first innings came to an end.
Keshav Maharaj grabbed three wickets at the cost of 92 runs, while Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada bagged a pair of wickets each for 51 and 84 runs respectively.
