BD lose first Test to Pakistan

Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by eight wickets in the first Test on the fifth and final day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh piled up a massive total of 330 in the first innings on the second day (Saturday).
In reply, Pakistan made 286 in the first innings on the third day (Sunday).
Later, Bangladesh scored 157 in the second innings on the fourth day (Monday). Chasing 202 runs to win, Pakistan reached the winning target making 203 runs for the loss of two wickets in the second innings on the fifth and final day (Tuesday).
The tourists resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 109 for the loss of none on the fifth and final day.
Openers Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 56 and 53 runs respectively.
Abdullah Shafique was trapped leg before wicket by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when the visitors’ score was 151.
Abdullah Shafique hit 73. His 129-ball knock was laced with eight fours and a sixer. After Shafique’s dismissal, Abid Ali was trapped leg before wicket by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam when Pakistan’s score was 171 for the loss of two wickets.
Abid Ali notched up a fine 91. His 148-ball innings was studded with 12 fours. Earlier, Abid Ali scored 133 in the first innings. Abid Ali was adjudged the Man of the Match for his consistent batting performance.
After Abid Ali’s departure, Azhar Ali and Babar Azam guided their team to overhaul the winning target scoring together 32 runs in the unbroken third wicket stand.
Azhar Ali remained unbeaten with 24 runs, while Babar Azam remained unbeaten with 13 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam took one wicket each for 59 and 89 runs respectively.
Taijul Islam and Liton Das restored some parity for their team after showing remarkable display respectively.
Taijul Islam captured seven wickets at the cost of 116 runs in his first innings bowling. Liton Das made a marvelous 114 in the first innings and score 59 in the second innings.
