Bangladesh expressed interest to host AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2017 qualifiers that will be held simultaneously at four separate countries from August 27.
Bangladesh hosted the last edition qualifiers and again showed the interest during the draw seeding of participating teams that concluded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.
At the draw seeding, Bangladesh was pitted in the six-team Group-C with Islamic Republic of Iran, Chinese Taipei, United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan and Singapore.
The seeding was completed based on the rankings in the last edition. The top four teams from the last edition — DPR Korea, Japan, China and Thailand — got direct entry for the final round to be held in Thailand.
Despite having direct entry, Thailand expressed their interest to take part in the qualifiers and therefore they were also included among the teams who will participate in the qualifiers.
In that case, if Thailand will finish top of their group in the qualifiers, the second-placed team from the same group will also qualify to the final competition.
Including Thailand, a total of 24-team will play in the qualifiers split in four groups and the champion of each group will qualify for super eight stage.
The other groups and teams are:
Group-A: Thailand, Myanmar, Jordan, Guam, Laos and Pakistan.
Group-B: Korea Republic, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Northern Mariana Islands and Lebanon.
Group-D: Uzbekistan, Australia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Palestine and Iraq.
