BD-India need to work together: Pankaj

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran on Friday said Bangladesh and India should work unitedly as they need to grow and prosper together as next door neighbours.
 “The relations between Bangladesh and India will continue to grow further in the coming days. We have to grow and prosper together… both the countries need to work together,” he said.
Pankaj said this addressing the council of Bangladesh-India Friendship Society at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University.
He said, the people of the two countries are close to each other in many ways. They have connected through television, internet and many other ways. So it is very easy to make a leationship between the two countries.
 “The good relationship between the two countries’ people definitely will help us to build a non-communal society and fight agaisnt terrorism in this area. I think this relationship will continue in future,” he said.
Speaker to the Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said, Bangladesh has good relation with India and its people for long.
“Bangladesh and India have been working to eliminate terrorism and establish non-communal society. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi initiated the initiative. We want to consolidate the relationship,” she said.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said, the relation between Bangladesh and India have increased immensely in the last few yesrs. It will continue in the interest of both the countries, he said.
University Grants Commission Chairman Professor AK Azad Chowdhury and DU Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, among others, spoke on the occasion.
