Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said Bangladesh has extradition treaty with two countries and the two countries are India and United Arab Emirates [UAE]. “The government has signed an agreement on “Transfer of Sentenced Persons (TSP)” with India in January 2010,” he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member MA Malek in the Jatiya Sangsad. The minister said Bangladesh signed the extradition treaty with the UAE on October 27, 2014.
Replying to another question from opposition bench Begum Salma Islam of Dhaka-1, Asaduzzaman Khan said his ministry has undertaken various initiatives to prevent human trafficking specially women and children. The government enacted Women and Children Trafficking Prevention and Control Act, 2012, for checking women and children trafficking. He informed the House that the government has also issued necessary directives to law enforcement agencies to adopt a ‘zero tolerance’ policy toward human traffickers.
