UNB, Dhaka :Amid the media speculation that a Bangladeshi family was held hostage in Jamaica in New York city by a group of criminals, a senior official on Monday night said the matter is not related to any Bangladeshi family.”We’ve learnt that the matter relates to a Guyanese family, not any Bangladeshi family,” M Shameem Ahsan, Consular General at Bangladesh Consulate in New York, told UNB.He, however, said that was ‘primarily identified’ as Guyanese family and they are trying to obtain further information in this regard. The official also said they will remain in touch with authorities concerned and will update if there is any further development. A Bangladeshi private TV channel ran scroll claiming a Bangladeshi family was held hostage by abductors.Jamaica is a middle-class neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens.
