Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar on Saturday celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Independence and National Day with due solemnity and fervor.
Bangladesh embassy in Yangon observed the day by paying glowing tributes to the Liberation War martyrs, who laid down their lives for the country’s independence in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an official release said on Monday.
The day’s programmes began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag at the Chancery by Ambassador Safiur Rahman in presence of the mission officials and members of the community.
Later, a discussion meeting was held and a special munajat was offered recalling the contribution of the liberation martyrs and valiant freedom fighters as well as seeking increasing prosperity of the country, the release added.
Marking the day, Ambassador Sufiur Rahman hosted a grand reception in the evening at the Sedona Hotel of Yangon.
The Chief Minister of Yangon Region and the Vice-President (Elect) of upcoming government U Myint Swe attended the reception as the guest of honour along with other dignitaries of the host government. The NLD Chief Parton U Tin Oo, some newly elected MPs, diplomatic missions, international organization and UN organization attended the reception. An exhibition was also held there showcasing the heritage, tourism and
investment prospect of Bangladesh.
