Bangladeshi athletes, swimmers and weightlifter eliminated from the first round of their respective events with dismal perfromaces in the ongoing 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Sunday.
Apart from Abdullah Hel Baki’s silver medal in the men’s 10-meter air rifles shooting on Sunday, Bangladeshi athlete Shrin Akter finished 38th among the 42 competitors in the women’s 100-meter sprint with a timing of 12.72 seconds in heat.
Another Bangladeshi athlete Mesbah Ahmed finished 53rd among the 67 competitors in the men’s 100-meter sprint, clocking 10.96 seconds in heat.
In swimming, M Ariful Islam was placed 23rd among the 35 swimmers in heat of the men’s 50-meter breaststroke with atiming of 30.37 seconds while Mahmudun Nabi Nahid finished 21st among the 29 swimmers in the men’s 100- meter butterfly heat, clocking 56.94 seconds.
In Weightlifting, Zohra Khatun Nisha finished last among the 12 participants in the women’s 75 kgs weight cetagory lifting total 155 kgs –65 kgs in Snatch and 90 kgs in Clean & Jerk.
