Sports Reporter :
After earning a heroic seven-run win over Afghanistan in the first One Day International (ODI) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on September 25, plucky Bangladesh led by experienced skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will take on Afghanistan in the second ODI at the same venue today. The Day/ Night Affair starts at 2.30 pm BST (Bangladesh Standard Time). State-owned television channel Bangladesh Television and private satellite channel G TV will telecast the match live from the arena.
Before today’s match, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, “The first match of a series is very important. If any team win in the first match, their mental pressure become light. We have passed a tough time after the first ODI match against Afghanistan. I hope we will be a better mental position in the tomorrow’s (Wednesday) match.”
Mashrafe said, “We want to register our 100th ODI victory in the tomorrow’s match. For this reason we have to play good cricket.”
He said, ” I expected big scores from our set batsmen. Earlier, our batsmen performed a calculative batting. Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad had chances to score centuries respectively. Shakib could score a big half-century.”
He also said, ” If the wicket favour us and our in-form batsmen can make big score, the next match will be easier. I hope everything will be in favour of us.”
Afghan bowler Rashid Khan said, ” We had no facilities as we have today. Nowadays we play a lot of games. Now, Masha Allah, there are lots of academies. We have four-five grounds where we play matches, even international games as well. But still we have to improve our cricket and we have a lot of work to do and build more grounds for cricket.”
He said, ” The senior players, specially Mohammad Shahzad, Asghar Stanikzai and Mohammad Nabi have supported me in fielding, bowling or batting,”
