DU Correspondent :
Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) on Saturday brought out a stick procession demanding trial of the incidents of murder and rape, including the recent murder of Sohagi Jahan Tonu.
Earlier, they held a rally carrying sticks in hands under the banner of ‘Pritilota Brigade’ protesting against rapists. The platform announced to train up females to learn the methods of self-protection from April 8 (Friday).
“The state which pampers the rapists will not ensure security of the females. So there is no alternative for the females
than getting united and to learn to protect themselves. We will inaugurate the training program on Friday at Raju Sculpture of Dhaka University, said BCU President and leader of the brigade Lucky Akhter.
Lucky said,” The girls will be trained Kungfu and Karate under the supervision of masters.”
Expressing dissatisfaction at the investigation process of Tonu murders, Lucky said, “The second autopsy proved that the first one was not done properly. Moreover, evidences of the rape and murder are being destroyed. The incident is being covered up.”
Meanwhile, Students will observe strike along with Gonojagoron Mancha and 13 left leaning student organisations today demanding punishment to the killers of Tonu.
Students of several educational institutions, including Dhaka University, called for the daylong strike on March 29, after blocking Shahbagh intersection for more than two hours demanding justice for Tonu. HSC examinees will be out of purview in the strike.
Bangladesh Chhatra Union will observe strike in schools and colleges tomorrow ( April 4) for the same reason.
