BCSCL, AKASH DTH sign commercial agreements

Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited (BCSCL) and Beximco Communications Limited (BCL) signed two separate commercial agreements on Satellite Transponder Service and Up-linking Service.
Under the agreements, BCL will provide country’s first ever DTH service with brand name AKASH through country’s first satellite, Bangabandhu-I, said a press release.
Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury, Managing Director of BCSCL and D S Faisal Hyder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BCL penned the agreement.
BCSCL Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood said the government wants the best use of technological advancement in the way of the country’s progress and peoples’ welfare.
Faisal Hyder said, “Bangabandhu Satellite-I is a big symbol of our national pride and achievement and we are committed to ensure quality DTH service from the satellite.” BCL brought the nation’s first ever Direct to Home (DTH) service in Bangladesh under the brand name of AKASH in last May. AKASH is now commercially available at authorized retails in 20 Districts – Dhaka, Mymensingh, Tangail, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Manikganj, Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni, Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria and Sunamganj.
