BCL wants Shibir-free Ctg College

Chhatra League activists took position in fornt of administrative building of Chittagong College with 8-points demand including Shibir-free college campus.
 About 100 BCL activists took position on Saturday noon .Meanwhile the collegewas opened after winter vacation from yesterday but no classes yet to be resumed , eye witnesses sources said. Besides, additional police forces have been deployed on the campus to avoid any untoward incidents.
All the gates of the college remained closed except the main gate, eye witnesses sources said. In the sit-in program, general secretary of city BCL unit Nurul Azim Roni and other city BCL leaders were present .
On the other hand , BCL city unit in a press meet held on December 31 last placed 8-point demands to the college authority. Until their demands are fulfilled, the academic classes of the college will not be allowed to continue further, the agitated BCL leaders said.
The 8-point demands are – permanent police camp in college campus, closure of all college gates except main gate, closure of all accommodation units inside campus, removal of Imam and Khatib from college mosque who are the patroniser of Shibir activists, removal of temporary and part time staffs from college, eviction of shops from college campus, placement of accounts of subscriptions so realized in the name of Chhatra Sangsad during last 3 decades before the general students, shut down of mini cantonment so built up in the name of hostels, and arrest of students those are accused in anarchy, violence with cancellation of their studentship.
72 held with yaba, liquor : Chittagong district police in separate overnight drives arrested 72 people, including a Jamaat activist, from different upazilas of the district on Friday night.
Abdul Awal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police detained the 72 persons for their alleged involvement in sabotage acts and vandalism. Police also recovered 130 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and 53 liters of country-made liquors during the drives. The detainees also include 63 arrest warrantees and eight accused in regular cases, he said.
